Outley House

The first totally "clean and sober" emergency shelter in Philadelphia, demonstrating that the principles of therapeutic community can be implemented in a shelter environment and that this concept, with management, residential and counseling staff sharing the same empowering philosophy, can produce positive change. Outley House is currently the home for over 200 men with an array of social problems. These problems are addressed through supportive counseling, case management services and referral to appropriate community based resources.

Winter Initiatives

This program provides emergency shelter and case management services to approximately 200 single men in two recreation centers in West and Southwest Philadelphia. This short term program provides the opportunity for these men to leave the streets during inclement weather, be exposed to supportive services and case management to deal with their lifestyle and substance abuse issues, and make a commitment to change their lives.

Peer Outreach Program

Provides outreach and counseling to the "hard core" homeless living on the streets of Philadelphia, by engaging them with a message of hope and inspiration, establishing rapport through repeated contacts and gradually leading them to accept necessary help. The staff makes referrals to social service resources and housing providers and helps those who leave the streets make a successful transition.
